Wilshire's Mission

“Upon this rock I will build my church.”

When Jesus spoke those words nearly 2,000 years ago, he envisioned a community of
believers committed to sharing his ministry of service and teaching in the world. The
Wilshire Church of Christ seeks to be that church.
Since 1965 Wilshire has been part of the Oklahoma City
community, serving our neighbors and sharing God’s word
in the area and around the world. Here you will find people
from every background and season of life committed to
serving God and others.

We are committed to God’s word. Instead of creeds,
counselsor conventions, Wilshire looks to the pages of
scripture for guidance. Our worship, doctrine and lives are
based on the word of God as revealed through Jesus and
scripture. We believe that “faith comes by hearing and
hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).

At Wilshire you will find a community of people committed

Here you will find a community of people committed to others. Whether through giving school
supplies to local children, sharing Vacation Bible School, or opening our doors to the hurting,
Wilshire seeks to continue the ministry of Jesus Christ.

As the church of Jesus Christ, it is our calling at Wilshire to represent Jesus in the
community and the world. We invite you to be a part what God is doing in this world through
his church at Wilshire.


Wilshire Ministries

Just as Jesus was committed to children, so
too is Wilshire. Rainbow Village provides age-
appropriate learning on Sunday nights through
drama, puppets, and singing. Children learn
God's word and the importance of living for
him. CK (Christ's Kids) provides monthly
service opportunities for children. Through CK,
children apply Christian principles by visiting,
encouraging, and serving others.
As children grow into teens Wilshire's youth ministry helps parents provide their children with
solid biblical teaching and a strong environment in which to develop a Biblical faith. Through
Bible studies, deveotionals, retreats, camps, service projects and fun times together, teens
learn to apply the truth of God's word in their lives.

Our college ministry offers a safe environment for teens to transition through some of the
most formative years of their lives. Students from local universities find in Wilshire a place
to be involved and grow in their spiritual lives.

Members of all ages and backgrounds enjoy the fellowship of other Christians through
Wilshire's Life Groups. Life groups offer a smaller environment through which you can
connect with others and serve in a variety of ways.

Our commintment to God's word and to others serves as the motive for an active world-wide
missions emphasis. Through our radio ministry, God's word is beamed nearly everyday
around the world via short-wave radio. Wilshire supports missionaries in the Phillippines,
Africa, Germany, Japan and New Zealand. The same missions commitment guides Wilshire's
support of childrens's homes, Bible Schools, and World Bible School.

Along with these specialized areas of ministry, Wilshire gathers every Sunday and
Wednesday to worship God and study his word. Every Sunday, members gather to
remember the death,burial and ressurection of Jesus by sharing in communion; we
lift our voices to each otherand to God through singing and praying. Together we
listen to God's word being read and explained.

Guided by a strong conviction that the message of God remains relevant today we meet
every Sunday moring and Wednesday evening in age-appropriate classes to study God's
word indepth. Bible classe sare taught by dedicated Christians who are passionate
about God's word.

The church that Jesus built remains alive and well today. If you want to be a part of that
